All 5 of my siblings and myself were vaccinated. Only one of us has autism. Regardless of if they were the cause (they’re NOT) I would rather have my sister the way she is as opposed to… I don’t know… DEAD??
Autism is not the devil. It’s not the enemy. It’s something that you can change yourself to understand to better communicate with them. Like you learn sign language for a deaf person, you learn for autism. They don’t like being touched or eye contact? Avoid that and find that they do like. They won’t wear blue jeans cause they don’t like the feel? Easy, find what they will wear. They’re non verbal? I’m pretty sure there’s a way for them to tell you what they need or that they love you if you take time to figure them out instead of lamenting that your child isn’t like the others and is “broken”. They’re not broken. Every child is different.
It’s Not. That. Hard.
I have my sister, but I also have been on special Olympics for over ten years and an in-house Caregiver for about 7. I’ve learned how to deal with different people, (from cerebral palsy, downs syndrome, autism, ect) in different ways and we got along fine because I cared enough to learn to communicate with them. Those people are some of my best friends that I love dearly.
There’s Nothing wrong with them. If autism is the worst that can happen to your child, the problem lies in you.
